On 19 November, a presentation of two exclusive projects of publishing house The Belarusian Encyclopedia named after P. Brovka was held at the gallery Labyrinth.


The presentation of books The Encyclopedia of Belarusian Hockey and The Encyclopedia of the Belarusian Sports Community “Dynamo” was timed to the the forthcoming Ice Hockey World Championship 2014 which will be held in Minsk.

The Encyclopedia of Belarusian Hockey features reviews about the basic stages of the development of hockey in our country, Belarusian sport clubs, ice arenas, sporting schools, biographies of known titled trainers and masters of domestic hockey, tables and statistics of both Belarusian championships and international competitions with the participation of the national combined team of Belarus. Larissa Yazykovich, editor-in-chief of publishing house The Belarusian Encyclopedia named after P. Brovka said: “This edition will help in writing of scientific papers and dissertations, and will allow studying and forecasting the development of ice hockey”. As she said, the book was positioned as a socially significant edition, and the government had allocated funds to guarantee a low consumer price.

Chairman of the Ice Hockey Federation of Belarus Evgeniy Vorsin also emphasized on an incontestable importance of this book. " The Encyclopedia of Belarusian Hockey is a huge work, a grateful work of its authors, as this is not only the memory of the last years, but also a gift to our descendants, – he said addressing to students of one of Minsk hockey schools who presented at the celebration, – I hope that materials of this encyclopedia will help you to put into practice what you will make by your hands “.

The Encyclopedia of the Belarusian Sports Community “Dynamo” is timed to the 90th anniversary of the oldest sports community of Belarus. The book is about the history and traditions of the community and its contribution to the development of domestic and world sports. The edition acquaints the reader with a varied activity of the community and all the sports the Belarusian Sports Community “Dynamo” cultivates in Belarus.

“Publication of two these books is a very important event as their contents are connected with the history of the development of sports in our country as those, and ice hockey in particular. Everyone knows the names of outstanding Belarusian hockey players... Probably, these books will help to popularize even more this sport in Belarus”, – Anastasia Marinina, press-secretary of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus said.

The publishing house donated to the National Library of Belarus some copies of the presented books. During the donation ceremony Elena Dolgopolova, First Deputy Director of the National Library of Belarus said: ”Presentation of books by publishing house The Belarusian Encyclopedia named after P. Brovka in our library has become a good tradition. I believe the editions which we have published today will become a pearl of the library’s book collection devoted to ice hockey and will take one of the central places at book displays which will be exhibited in the Library during the Championship”.

Along with these projects a thematic book exhibition was presented to visitors’ attention. It featured books from the stocks of the National Library of Belarus: encyclopedias and manuals on world, soviet and Belarusian hockey, information and advertising publications timed to the Ice Hockey World Championship 2014, editions of the Ice Hockey Federation of Belarus, books about the oldest sports community of Belarus “Dynamo”, magazines on Belarusian sports Dynamo, Junior. Football, Hockey, Your Sports etc.

Guests of the event enjoyed lyrical songs performed by children’s ensemble Buslik.

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders
