The specialists of the National Library of Belarus, Svetlana Pugacheva, Natalia Zelenevskaya and Nelly Kovalevskaya, and the representatives of the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Yuri Getsevich and Svetlana Getsevich, visited the leading libraries of the Netherlands. The professional travel (November 3–9) was supported by Mobility Scheme for Targeted People-to-People-Contacts (MOST).
The Belarusian delegation visited the National Library of the Netherlands (The Hague), the Erasmus University Library (Rotterdam), and the main library of the University of Leiden (Leiden) for sharing experience.
An important part of the professional travel was a meeting with the editor-in-chief of the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC), Dr Aida Slavic, at the UDC Consortium (UDCC) in the Hague. During the meeting, the representatives of the National Library of Belarus suggested amendments and additions to the Belarusian edition of UDC for Consortium’s database (UDC Master Reference File), and also discussed the issued related to translation of UDC into the Belarusian language.
The Belarusian specialists also visited the archive of UDC Consortium and the International Federation for Information and Documentation (FID, Federation internationale de documentation), which holds important documents of the organizations and all editions of UDC, including the very first edition in French, published in Brussels, 1905.
New professional contacts have been set during the travel. The UDC Editor-in-Chief is expected to visit Belarus in 2020.
