The National Library of Belarus has determined the winners of the contest dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Rygor Borodulin, the People's Poet of Belarus.

More than 50 schoolchildren took part in a competition organized by the Library. Children read poems and selected quotes from the poet's heritage created posters with their favorite passages and wrote essays explaining their choice. The participants were schoolchildren of different age from different parts of the country: 15 people from Minsk, 10 - from Brest, 5 from Mogilev and Rechitsa each, 4 – from Soligorsk and Pochapovo, there were schoolchildren from Baranovichi, Vileika, Gomel, Maly Sitno, Novoelnya, Postavy, Pinsk, Polotsk and Stolin.

The National Library is grateful to everyone! Each work was heartfelt, sincere and creative. The contest showed that the imagination and wisdom of children are limitless.

The winners who took the I–III places will be awarded:

memorable diplomas,

a free excursion around the Library with a visit to the Book Museum and the Observation Deck and a free photo session (for all classmates or friends of the contest participant)

publication of the contest work and information about the author on the portal of the Library and in the scientific and methodological journal "Main and Additional Education",

books and gift bags with products of the publishing house "Adukatsya i vyhavanne".

The jury also approved individual works, including an essay by the youngest participant - Nikolai Pekutko (8 years old, Gymnasium No. 21, Minsk, grade 3 "B") and the only poetic work – a poem by Ilya Tolstyko (Velikaya Svorotva Village, Pochapov kindergarten - Secondary School of the Baranovichi district, grade 7).

Apart from the prizewinners, the authors of the ten best works will be awarded diplomas, books and gift bags with the products of the publishing house "Adukatsya i vyhavanne":

The material was prepared by the Bibliology Research Department as part of the projects "On a Visit to Books" and "Create Culture: Library Innovative Services."

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
