As part of the celebration of the Day of Belarusian Written Language, the National Library hosted a press conference and presentation on occasion of the release of a new educational publication for 1-year pupils of general secondary education institutions with the Belarusian language of instruction on September 3.
The ABC-book, published for the 2021/2022 academic year, is full of pronounced national content. It includes tasks and exercises that reflect the values of the culture of the Belarusian people. In addition, first-graders got access to media content using QR codes.
Many people worked on the design and publication of the ABC-book. The team of authors was selected according to the results of the competition of the National Institute of Education (NIE). Its staff and reviewers organized and conducted an examination of the manual, and the staff of the publishing centre of the NIE prepared the manual for publication. It's for the first time that working with the ABC-Book children can watch animated films about the letters of the alphabet, released by "Belarusfilm".
Mr Alies Susha, Deputy Director General of the National Library of Belarus, Ms Valiancina Hinchuk, Director of the National Institute of Education, Mr Uladzimir Karacheuski, Director General of "Belarusfilm", Ms Halina Paludzen, Deputy Director of Gymnasium No. 23 and the textbook authors – Ms Volha Svirydzenka, Associate Professor of the Department of Belarusian and Russian Linguistics of the Faculty of Primary Education of the M. Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University and Ms Volha Cirynova, Leading Researcher of the National Institute of Education, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor – attended the event and made their speeches.
As part of the event, the guests also saw an exhibition of 30 national ABC-books and publications for primary teaching in reading and literacy from the collections of the National Library.
