On 21 May, at 5 p.m., at the gallery “Atrium” (2nd floor) there will be held a presentation of the book series “The History of the World Art” by B.A. Lazuko.


The presented works of well-known Belarusian scientist give the analysis of the development of different kinds of world plastic arts from the ancient times to the early 20th century.

The books by B.A. Lazuko are the first in Belarusian study of art research, dedicated to foreign cultural heritage, cover the development of architecture, sculpture, graphics and arts, and crafts. Most of the described monuments haven’t ever been studied or have been known to particular specialists only.

On April 8-12 the VII International Scientific and Practical Seminar "Document Restoration: Conservatism and Innovation - 2024" was held at the Russian State Library. This is the largest professional forum, the main task of which is to exchange experience and improve the skills of restorers and curators of museum, library and archival collections from different countries.

Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities

April 18, 2024 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of Yevstafiy Tyshkevich, a famous archaeologist, historian, ethnographer, local historian and museologist. His research has raised whole layers of the historical past, he was one of the first Belarusian authors of local lore. To mark the anniversary of the scientist, an exhibition "Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities" has been organized in the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus.

Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
