On 25 March, there was held a presentation of Vladimir Mazgo’s book Advechnyya skarby Radzimy (Eternal treasures of the Motherland).


The book came out in the publishing house Zvyazda. The edition tells about the historical and spiritual heritage of the Belarusian people. The author invites readers to discover the secrets of an ancient Berestie (now Brest), look at the world through the loopholes of the church-fortress in Synkovichy, visit the capital of fullers – Dribin, walk along St. Anna Fair in Zelva. On the road from past centuries there appear figures of Francisk Skorina, Simon Budny, Rogneda and St. Sophia of Slutsk.

"Today we have not just a book ... We have an event in our book life," said Deputy Director for Research and Publishing Activities of the National Library of Belarus Alexander Susha during the presentation. He congratulated the author with the release of the edition, remembered moments of his life when he met with the works of the writer.

A lot of warm words about the author Vladimir Mazgo and graphic artist Igor Gordieynok sounded from Deputy Director of the publishing house Zvayzda Alla Korbut. "I am very pleased that Vladimir Mazgo has come with his book in our publishing house. I have been fortunate to work with living classics, those who now are the color of the Belarusian literature," she said.

PhD, academician Vladimir Gnilomedov cited lines from the poet’s poems and advised him to continue the development of historical themes to release more book or album. "We all are in need in this literature," said the literary critic.

In turn, the author of the presented edition Vladimir Mazgo talked about how he had come to this theme. "For a long time I had a dream to release a book on historic theme ... When I came back from the military service, I was sent on a business trip to excavate the ancient site of Berestie where to myself I discovered the Belarusian past. At this time my first article was published in the newspaper Zvayzda," remember the writer.

At the end of the event, the audience was delighted with the performance of the composer Oleg Yeliseenko who sang songs to the words of Vladimir Mazgo. "I am very glad that books that are themselves works of art appear in our country," said the composer about the presented edition.

Guests had the opportunity to get acquainted with the edition, as well as a book exhibition of the National Library devoted to the spiritual and architectural treasure of the cultural heritage of Belarus.

Vladimir Mazgo is aBelarusian poet and writer, winner of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus and the literary Golden Cupid Award. His first publication came out in 1972. He is the author of books of poetry Pad speu krynіts (1982), Vershalіna (1987), Marafon (1992), Anyola nyabesny (2007). He published books of poems for children Kalі sprachayutstsa malankі (1989), Susedzі pa susvetse (1994), (1999), Prygody marakhaoda (2002), Cuda-vuda (2008), Tayamnіchaya planeta (2008).

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
