On March 26th at 3 p.m. at the gallery “Labyrinth" of the National Library of Belarus is taken place the presentation of the academic edition “Architecture of Belarus: essays on evolution in the East Slavonic European contest”.
The academic edition in many volumes was being published in 2005–2009 by the “Belaruskaya Navuka” publishing house. This is a fundamental research of K. Krapiva Institute of Fine Arts, Ethnography and Folklore of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The edition presents an analysis of monuments of Belarusian architecture in the context of the development of architectural culture of Eastern Slavs and European peoples. The research is based on a wide spectrum of modern factologic materials, methodological approaches and scientific concepts. There is the first well-founded scientific conception of Belarusian architecture development – from origins to present day, which reveals the phenomenon of Belarusian architecture combining the features of all-European and native architecture, covers regional and national peculiarities and analyzes artistic tendencies of the major historical and cultural periods. The edition reflects the evolution of town-planning, architecture of public and dwelling buildings, sacral and traditional people’s architecture, industrial architecture and road architecture. Each volume comprises analysis of Belarusian architecture from the IX to the early XXI cc.
The books are richly illustrated with photos, schemes, plans and cartographic materials. The edition is designed for specialists in architecture, fine arts and culture, and also for a wide readership. It is recommended for institutes of higher education as teaching material on architecture, fine arts, culturology and history; for professional architects, and for scientific maintenance of the Ministries of Architecture and Construction, Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus.
Authors of the edition, representatives of K. Krapiva Institute of Fine Arts, Ethnography and Folklore of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Belarusian National Technological University, the ”Belaruskaya Navuka” publishing house, the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus will participate in the presentation.
At the event, a subject exhibition-review from the collections of the National Library of Belarus will be presented to visitors’ attention. A string quartet of the Belarusian State Academy of Music will perform musical compositions.
