On December, 18th, the presentation of new books of series The Maladost Magazine Library of the Publishing House Zvyazda was held at the National Library of Belarus.
The book series The Maladost Magazine Library was founded in 1988. Annually twelve editions appeared: five collections of poems, five books of prose, one book of journalistic articles and one book of critical essays. At the presentation first deputy director of the National Library of Belarus Elena Dolgopolova said since the foundation of the series the Library had acquired more than 100 editions.
Almost each well-known Belarusian literati has gone through the series The Maladost Magazine Library. In the 1990s, an economically and ideologically difficult period, the series had gradually come to naught. In 2013, the series was restored, and its revival was timed to the 60th anniversary of the magazine.
Through “Maladost”. Not the Saddest Book about Money, Black Chocolate, Writers and Literature. is the first book of the renewed series – the memoirs of those who worked at the magazine in different years or whose works were published there.
The second book of the series is an adventure and ironical detective by author from Mogilev Alyona Belonozhka The Crocodile Leather Suitcase which main characters are stars of show business.
The third book is a collection of historical stories The Curse of Metropolitan Pheophil written by author from Braslav Vladimir Mozhilovsky. This is a fascinating reading based on authentic historical material.
Furthermore, ”Maladost” projects two more books which are not similar to each other or any other books: the first one is a translation of the poem Radziwilliada, the second is a collection of mystical and historical stories.
”It is pleasant that the series has revived. We can promise that the Library will not forget about these editions after presentations and will promote them”, Elena Dolgopolova said.
Authors of books took part in the event as well. They told about their works and the chronology of creation, common and unusual moments during the preparation of books, their heroes and heroines, themselves and their own outlook.
At the end of the event singer of band Nelga zabyt Mikhail Baranovsky performed melodic songs.
