On December, 11th, at 4 p.m., a presentation of collected articles The Gatherer printed by the publishing house “Zvyazda” will be held in the gallery “Labyrinth” (on the 3rd floor).

The edition includes articles of researchers and collectors of Belarusian numismatics, cartography, bonistics and philately from antiquity to present day. The book is created and richly illustrated by gatherers from Belarus, the USA, Poland, Lithuania and the Great Britain. All of them have an equal interest in collecting artifacts connected with the history of Belarus and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Within the bounds of the event, the National Library of Belarus offers an exhibition of books by Belarusian and foreign authors on numismatics, bonistics, heraldry, cartography, phaleristics etc.

To you, an accomplished book lover, it may seem that the new generation is lost to culture. They don't read anything other than social media posts. This is terrible – mainly because it is not true. However, it is true that getting children to read is becoming harder and harder. What can be done about it? First, take your child to the Children's Room classes in the National Library. Second, recall experiences from the past. Take, for example, an interesting practice from the US school curriculum, which in the distant 1960s distracted children from televisions and put them back on the proper path of book lovers.
