On April 10, 2008, at the National Library of Belarus took place a presentation of a book by Astrid Lindgren, the Swedish writer, “Pippi Long Stocking” translated into the Belarusian language. The event was organized by the Swedish Consulate in Minsk, the Swedish Institute, and National Library of Belarus.
The Swedish Consulate organized an exhibition of Swedish literature; National Library of Belarus presented an exhibition of books by Astrid Lindgren.
During the event National Library of Belarus received 50 books “Pippi Long Stocking” and 50 books “Karlsson-on-the-Roof" which will be redistributed into Belarusian libraries.
In the event participated: Karin Nyman, Astrid Lindgren’s daughter who invented the Pippi’s name and inspired the writer for creation of the story; Ulla Lindkvist, the eminent Swedish writer, and Dmitry Plaks, the interpreter.
