Igor Lutsky, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Belarus, presided over a meeting of the Republican Interdepartmental Coordinating Council for Patriotic Education of the Population of the Republic of Belarus on November 29 at the National Library.
The meeting was attended by Anatoly Markevich, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus; Andrey Ivanets, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus; Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; Nikolai Myslivets, Director of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; Yuri Bondar, Rector of the Republican Institute of Higher Education, Secretary of the Council; representatives of ministries, the House of Representatives, republican and local government bodies, and public associations.
During the meeting, issues related to the implementation of the Program of Patriotic Education of the Population of the Republic of Belarus for 2022–2025 and measures for its implementation were considered. The participants paid special attention to the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War as a factor of patriotic education of the population, patriotic values in the views of modern Belarusians (from the experience of a sociological study conducted by the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus), and the formation of a database of objects of the national heritage of the Republic of Belarus.
The National Library has prepared a thematic exhibition-display of publications dedicated to the state symbols, economy, politics, and ideology of Belarus, as well as the cultural and historical heritage of our nation, specifically for the meeting of the Republican Interdepartmental Coordination Council. The publications highlight the significance of students' civic and patriotic education as well as the expanding role and expertise of educational institutions in educating citizens of all ages.
The Republican Interdepartmental Coordinating Council for Patriotic Education of the Population of the Republic of Belarus is a permanent collegial advisory body. Coordinating interactions between republican state administration entities, local executive and administrative bodies, public associations, and other groups engaged in the population's patriotic education is its primary responsibility.
