The Gomel regional library hosted a round table "And the pages of rare books are still alive in my memory» dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Rare book museum in celebration of the 95th anniversary of the Gomel regional library on 21 February.
Inga Zavgorodniaia, first deputy head of the Main department for ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the Gomel regional executive committee, Natalia Avraliova, head of the Russian house in Gomel, first secretary of the embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Belarus, Tatiana Zabiiako, director of the Gomel regional library, all greeted the attendees and guests of the conference.
The round table meeting was attended by library and museum specialists, restorers from Minsk, Gomel, Brest, Polotsk (Belarus), Smolensk, Bryansk, Novosibirsk (Russia). The attendees reviewed modern approaches to popularizing and promoting historical and cultural heritage, shared their experience in restoring documents and creating electronic resources and projects, and discussed activities aimed at creating and preserving rare book collections in their reports.
Presentations were also made by the staff of the National library of Belarus: Evgeny Zhuk, head of the Digitization of documents department, Diana Muratova, head of the Restoration and conservation of library documents department, Maria Shopina, head of the Bibliology research department, and Tatiana Kornilova, head of the sector of the Bibliology research department.
A cultural program was organized for the participants, including a visit to the "Princess Irina Paskevich Literary Salon", an introduction to the exhibition "Generous Gifts and Wonderful Worlds of Books" at the Rare Book Museum. The conference participants also took an informative tour of the expositions of the Gomel Palace and Park Ensemble.
