On July 8th, at the gallery “Labyrinth” of the National Library of Belarus took place the opening ceremony of the historical-cultural project “Gruenwald-600”.
Within the framework of the event, presentation of the new book by Yuri Bokhan “Warriors of the Gruenwald Battle” and a set of postcards “The Gruenwald Battle in Images: materials from the collections of the National Library of Belarus” were presented.
The event had been prepared by the National Library of Belarus and “Belarus” Publishing House. The book “Warriors of the Gruenwald Battle” is dedicated to the crucial event in the two hundred year old confrontation between peoples of Belarusian lands and crusaders – the Gruenwald Battle which took place on July 15th 1410. The edition is designed for historians, students and high school students, and also for everyone who is interested in the history of Belarus. The book is published by “Belarus” Publishing House and 3 hundred copies are offered for sale.
The set of postcards “The Gruenwald Battle in Images” from the collections of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the major battle of the Middle Ages. There are 16 postcards representing engravings, reproductions and illustrations.
Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky, consultant of Publishing Activity and Book Trade Administration at the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus Valery Rogalevich, Acting Director of “Belarus” Publishing House Valentina Pinchuk, author of the monograph “Warriors of the Gruenwald Battle” Yuri Bokhan, editor Elena Shagun and head of the Information-Analytical Department of the National Library of Belarus Lyudmila Gorbacheva took part in the presentation.
Guests of the event enjoyed musical compositions performed by the string quartet “Kapriz”.
