On 23 May, the opening of the 3rd Forum of librarians of Belarus “Humanitarian and educational activities of libraries in the context of human values and the Belarusian statehood” took place at the National Library of Belarus.
The organizers of the event are the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Library Association, the National Library of Belarus" and the Logoisk regional executive committee.
A welcoming speech was said by Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Vasily Chernick, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Education, Culture and Science Marat Zhilinsky. Also, there was read a welcoming speech of Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Tozik.
At the opening Roman Motulsky, the Director of the National Library of Belarus, and Natalia Chueva, the Director of the Minsk Regional Library named after A. Pushkin, presented their reports.
The event is attended by over 350 delegates from Belarus – the leading experts of libraries, educational institutions and the representatives of legislative and executive powers.
At the plenary and breakout sessions the participants will discuss a legal support of library branch, a corporate cooperation of libraries in Belarus, the implementation of information technology in their work and a place of libraries in the socio-cultural environment of regions and in a library profession. There will be reviewed activities and established priorities of the Belarusian Library Association.
