The 23rd issue of the collection of scientific articles "Zdabytki: Documentary Memories in Belarus" has been published.

The collection was created by the National Library of Belarus in 1995 and has been publishing on its pages research on the history of Belarusian book culture for 25 years. Today it is the leading scientific publication of the Republic of Belarus in the field of bibliology.

The 23rd edition of the collection contains publications that introduce into scientific circulation new materials related to the history of the book culture of Belarus. The attention of researchers is directed to the artistic features of Francysk Skaryna's editions: an analysis of his portrait engraving (I.Zvariko), as well as an understanding of artistic innovations in the books of F. Skaryna and their influence on East Slavic typography (E.Kurganova) is published. The study of Belarusian alphabet books continues: the collection contains a scientific description of the Vilna textbooks of 1618–1621. (A.Susha). Among the materials of the issue - a study of the heritage of the Belarusian book printer Spiridon Sobal (E.Titovets); analysis of works of book graphics, created at the beginning of the 17th century in honour of the Vilna governor Nikolai Christopher Radziwill the Orphan (T.Zelensky); study of the book space of Nesvizh in the 18th century (O.Polunchenko); study of Masonic book publishing on the territory of the Russian Empire in the 18th – 19th centuries. (A.Danilov, V.Nelidkin). Materials are published on the handwritten and printed heritage of prominent figures of Belarusian culture - Vladislav Syrokomli (B.Gura), Boleslav Yalovetsky (M.Shopin), Anton Grinevich (E.Denisenko). A number of articles highlight the fate of Belarusian historical book collections (the Catholic library of the 18th century in Lyakhovichi (P.Bulaty), the library of the Institute of Belarusian Culture of the 1920s (L.Silnova), consider provings and autographs as valuable components of the history of the book's existence (Y.Lavrik, D.Liseichikov, S.Pakhomenkova, N.Usova), the manuscript and archival heritage (E.Lysenko, P.Khomik), periodicals (G.Romanenkova). An article devoted to the analysis of the development of the Belarusian national bibliography in 1921–1939 was also published, an important factor in preserving the historical memory of society (T.Kuzminich). The book collections of the largest Belarusian scientific libraries – the National Library of Belarus and the Central Scientific Library named after Yakub Kolas of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus – are revealed.

The collection is addressed to bibliographers, historians, philologists, culture experts, specialists in libraries, museums and archives, as well as bibliophiles and everyone who is interested in the Belarusian and world book heritage.

Students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National library

On April 18, the students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National Library of Belarus as part of the environmental education and upbringing program. They got acquainted with the thematic book exhibition "Water is a wonderful gift of Nature" dedicated to World Water Day. The exposition is presented in the documents of international organizations reading room (room 207 g).
