On October 2, the library signed a cooperation agreement between the National Library of Belarus and the National Library of the Republic of Dagestan named after Rasul Gamzatov.
The event was held as part of the official visit of the delegation of the Republic of Dagestan to the Republic of Belarus.
The signing of the agreement was attended by Deputy Director General of the National Library of Belarus Viktar Pzybytka and Director of the National Library of the Republic of Dagestan named after Rasul Gamzatov Ali Aliyev.
The ceremony was also attended by Director of the Dagestan Museum of Fine Arts named after Pasul Gamzatov, President of the Rasul Gamzatov Foundation Salihat Gamzatova and Head of the Department for Work with Library and Educational Institutions of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Dagestan Elena Gadzhieva.
The parties discussed the exchange of information and cultural resources, participation in joint conferences, seminars, round tables, presentations in order to preserve and enhance patriotic traditions, mutual support in conducting cultural and educational programs. At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged gifts.
The signing of the agreement is an important step in the development of cultural ties between Belarus and Dagestan. It will expand access to the cultural and scientific resources of both institutions and will contribute to strengthening friendly relations between peoples.
The honored guests were introduced to the 100-year history of the National Library of Belarus, architectural features and technical capabilities of the institution, told about information resources and socio-cultural activities of the library, and also conducted a tour of the book museum.
The exhibition "The Poet who conquered the planet Earth", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Rasul Gamzatov's birth, is being held in the library until October 4.
