On December 5, the 21st General Meeting of the Non-Profit Partnership “Library Assembly of Eurasia” (LAE) was held at the Russian State Library. The event was attended by the Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky.
The meeting discussed the strategies of the CIS national libraries to build a common knowledge space, and also the formation and development of funds, the development of a network of public libraries, the development of professional educational programs, joint initiatives in the Year of the Book and the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, announced in the CIS for 2019 and 2020.
The Director of the National Library of Belarus made a presentation on the joint activities of the LAE member libraries to restore the national documentary heritage. The general meeting was attended by heads and staff of leading libraries in the CIS countries: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
On the same day, the 9th session of the Section on the Interlibrary Loan of the CIS Member States was held at the Russian State Library, during which Roman Motulsky reported on the status and prospects of the interlibrary loan system and document delivery in the Republic of Belarus. The meeting approved a list of plenipotentiaries, section agenda for 2019, and reviewed a report on its work. At the end of the meeting a discussion and signing of the final protocol took place.
