From 10 to 13 November, the meetings of the EIFL General Assembly was held in Istanbul (Turkey).
It was attended by representatives from more than 40 states. Belarus was represented by a worker of the National Library of Belarus, Head of Information Support of Innovative Activities Section Vyacheslav Brichkovsky who has given a report "The creation and use of scientific-educational resources of open access in the Republic of Belarus".
At the meetings there was discussed a wide range of issues related to how efficiently improve the use of electronic information resources in the scientific-educational fields. A huge attention was given to the development of the initiative on open access (Open Access, ОА). There were held specialized sessions on Open Access and electronic books.
During round tables there were discussed such issues as the use of innovation technologies in libraries (Massive Open Online Courses, Open Research Data, Text and data mining) and copyright compliance when working with electronic resources.
During the EIL General Assembly an exhibition of information resources was organized by the leading publishing houses: Project Muse, EBSCO, Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Emerald, Gale/Cengage, IOP, JSTOR, Royal Society, Publishing, Taylor & Francis, Wiley-Blackwell, SAGE, Credо, Nature, OECD.
As part of the negotiations with the producers of information resources there was agreed to organize test access to electronic information resources such as Project Muse, Gale/Cengage, IOP, JSTOR, Royal Society, Publising, Taylor & Francis, Wiley-Blackwell, SAGE, Credo, Nature, OECD for the National Library of Belarus and organizations that are part of the Council of Belarusian libraries on information interaction, for the purpose of purchasing licenses for the most popular information resources.
