Unique classes with world-famous book artist Pavel Tatarnikov were held on February 10, in the "Book Professors’ Club".

Pavel Tatarnikov illustrated books by Nil Gilevich, Gennady Buravkin, Vladimir Orlov, Vladimir Yagovdik, Anatoly Butevich, Ales Kravtsevich, Belarusian folk tales, as well as works by Shakespeare, Dumas, Andersen, Chinese epic. This Belarusian graphic artist is the winner of prestigious international awards, won twice the highest European award for book illustrators - the Golden Apple award of the Bratislava Biennale.

Arranging a meeting with the artist was difficult: working in a workshop, traveling abroad, studying at the Academy of Arts, opening an exhibition at the Nesvizh National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve ... But he found the time to come to the library and, surrounded by the attention of many children and parents, to tell about the history of the book, book graphics, art book and about their love for books since childhood.

The meeting program was intense:

  • tour at the exhibition "Pencil & Penzal", which presents graphic illustrations by Pavel Tatarnikov to popular publications;
  • book exhibition of publications with his illustrations from the library;
  • press conference during which the artist answered all the questions of the young "professors";
  • master class on creating art books;
  • autograph session, during which children received as a memory from the artist not only an autograph, but also a drawing.

The works by Pavel Tatarnikov are in collections of museums in Belarus, Germany, Slovakia, Spain, Japan and other countries, and exhibitions of his works were represented almost half the world. At the "Pencil & Penzal" exhibition at the National Library of Belarus, children viewed the paintings of the artist and traveled with him in time. Technical skill, excellent mastery of watercolor, and many details attracted to vigilant scrutiny at each work. The artist helped to understand the paintings and paid attention to their features. For example, in the illustration to the fairy tale "The Snow Queen" by Andersen, the carriage flies around a miniature palace resembling the Ruzhansky Palace in Belarus.

The participants asked many questions to the artist. The children especially liked that Pavel loved the books to be beautiful since childhood, and sometimes he drew himself pictures on the pages of books from his own library.

Many participants of the classes brought books for the autographs. Some illustrations from these books they saw at the exhibition "Pencil & Penzal", including a portrait of Francysk Skaryna.

The artist dedicated to the "Book Professors’ Club" an art book in a single copy called "Knizhka-pajadanka".
