On September 23 an international educational campaign in support of the book and reading "Literary Dictation" took place at the site of the National Library for the first time.

On this day, more than 1,200 sites were opened in 14 countries of the world: fans of reading met to find out how well they remember classical Russian literature. The participants of the action were waiting for 20 questions about famous Russian writers, favourite literary heroes and stylistic techniques in literature, compiled with the participation of teachers of higher educational institutions, philologists, writers and other qualified specialists.

As part of the Literary Dictation, a video bridge was also held for sites taking part in the international action for the first time, where Acting Minister of Culture of the Murmansk Region Timur Davletshin, Acting Director of the Murmansk State Regional Universal Scientific Library Maria Zelenko, Director General of the National Library of Belarus Vadzim Higin and representatives of libraries taking part in the event for the first time made welcoming speeches. shares.

Vadzim Hihin noted in his speech that Russian is a close and native language not only for citizens of the Russian Federation and the countries of the former Soviet Union, but also commands the respect in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The international educational campaign has been held since 2021 on the initiative of the Murmansk State Regional Universal Scientific Library in partnership with the All-Russian Library of Foreign Literature named after M.I. Rudomino.
