On 6–10 February, the National Library of Belarus traditionally participated in the XX Minsk International Book Fair held at the National Exhibition Centre "BelExpo".


Every year this book exhibition held in Minsk is gaining more authority that is confirmed by a constant increase in the number of participating countries and visitors. This year, more than 600 exhibitors from 25 countries have presented their stands. The anniversary book fair became a symbolic result of the Year of Book held in Belarus in 2012.

Russia was an honoured guest in the 20th Minsk International Book Fair, so this country gave editions of various thematic to the attiontion of the Belarusian public.

The stands of the National Library of Belarus exhibited printed and electronic documents which had been prepared and published by the Library for recent years. The visitors had also an apportunity to see unique facsimile editions and rare books from the Library.

On 6 February, a facsimile edition of the Gospel of Polotsk, the most valuable book monument of our country, was presented in the framework of the opening of the 20th Minsk International Book Fair.

On 7 February, the National Stand of Belarus presented unique facsimile editions of the National Library of Belarus published in 2012 and for which the Library’s staff was awarded the Special Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus for cultural and art workers, as well as a special award in the nomination "For contribution to the preservation of spiritual heritage" during the National Contest "The Art of Book – 2013".

On 8 February, the National Library of Belarus hosted a round table "Library of Belarus and the formation of information culture of pupils and students" in Educational Hall.

Also on 8 February the National Stand of Belarus presented joint research and publishing projects of the National Library of Belarus and Belinvestbank. These are three sets of calendars under the title "Remembering the past, moving into the future".

For active participation and interesting exposition the National Library of Belarus was awarded a diploma of the 20th Minsk International Book Fair.

Document Restoration: Conservatism and Innovation – 2024

On April 8-12 the VII International Scientific and Practical Seminar "Document Restoration: Conservatism and Innovation - 2024" was held at the Russian State Library. This is the largest professional forum, the main task of which is to exchange experience and improve the skills of restorers and curators of museum, library and archival collections from different countries.

Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities

April 18, 2024 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of Yevstafiy Tyshkevich, a famous archaeologist, historian, ethnographer, local historian and museologist. His research has raised whole layers of the historical past, he was one of the first Belarusian authors of local lore. To mark the anniversary of the scientist, an exhibition "Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities" has been organized in the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
