On February 8, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the 58th National Competition "The Art of the Book" was held at the Palace of Art.
The ceremony is organized by the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus. The competition determines the best publishing projects that were distinguished in the national book publishing, contributes to the improvement of the artistic and printing culture of the Belarusian book, the further development of the book art, popularization of the best achievements of publishing houses of the republic.
The staff of the National Library of Belarus became the winner in the nomination "For the Contribution to the Preservation of Spiritual Heritage". A special diploma and a memorable sign-symbol "Small Golden Folio" is a well-deserved reward for the implementation of the project of facsimile re-creation of the first book in the world called "Primer" with Belarusian roots.
Partners of the project on reproduction of the 400-year-old tutorial were the Library of the Honorable Society Middle Temple in London, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the International Association of Belarusians, Belarusian State University, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the European Bank for Reconstruction and development, as well as the Belarusian Bank for Development and Reconstruction "Belinvestbank".
Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky expressed his gratitude for the high appreciation of the work of the "knowledge diamond" team and spoke about the significance of the “Primer” for the Belarusian book heritage.
