An interactive lecture-concert called "An Angel arrived at the Nativity of the Christ" from the cycle "Belarus' National Musical Heritage" was presented on December 20 at the Labyrinth Gallery.
The soul waits for a miracle on the eve of Christmas and New Year's and longs to be enveloped in warmth, tranquillity, and contentment. On this cold evening, everyone was in the holiday spirit thanks to the music chapel of the Center for Studies of Belarusian Culture, Language, and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the artistic director of the project, Galina Pavlovna Tsmyg.
The concert-schedule lecture's includes pieces by Belarusian composers with holiday themes that were performed by choral and instrumental ensembles. The audience was given the chance to play music alongside the performers by being given the option to learn songs and tunes about the great winter holiday as well as becoming familiar with the wheel lyre, which is the national instrument of Belarus.
The New Year's song "Jingle Bells" was performed in Belarusian at the conclusion of the event, uniting everyone in attendance.
We invite everyone to the next concert "Play duda to me, and I'll dance", which will feature the music of the Belarusian folk instrumental tradition in the sound of the Hurdy-gurdy, zhaleika, duda, ocarina and many other instruments. The meeting will take place on Thursday, at 6.30 pm, 26.01.2023.
