Employees of the Bibliology Research Department of the National Library of Belarus have got an internship in Amsterdam (Netherlands) as part of the European Union’s MOST program.

Tatyana Zakharova, head of the museum activity sector, and Tatyana Sapego, head of the research and development sector, took part in the UN-sponsored EU4MOBILITY – MOST project. During the internship, which lasted from 20 to 26 October, our colleagues took part in the MuseumNext international conference and visited the leading libraries and museums of Amsterdam: the Amsterdam Public Library, the State Museum of Amsterdam, and the Van Gogh Museum.

At the Amsterdam Public Library (Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam), which is among the largest public libraries in Europe, Tatyana Zakharova and Tatyana Sapego got acquainted with the activities of the Children's Literature Department and the Maintenance Planning Department, and also studied the library’s services and educational programs.


The library of the State Museum of Amsterdam (Rijksmuseum) has the Netherlands’ largest collection of materials on art history. Tatyana Zakharova and Tatyana Sapego got acquainted with the museum’s expositions, including an exhibition of old and rare books, and also audio guides, services and educational programs.


The Van Gogh Museum contains the largest collection of the artist’s works, as well as his drawings and letters. The museum has a children’s area and offers various educational programs.

Tatyana Zakharova and Tatyana Sapego studied the facsimile edition of Van Gogh's sketch albums, which is one of the museum’s library projects. Also they became acquainted with the library’s collections, databases and bibliographic publications.


On October 25, Tatyana Zakharova and Tatyana Sapego took part in the MuseumNext international conference, which was attended by representatives of leading European museums. Speakers shared their experience in digitalization, the development of electronic projects and digital content, business strategies for libraries and museums, audience development and educational programs.


Thanks to the internship program, our colleagues have gained new experience and knowledge, got acquainted with the innovations, products and advanced technologies for libraries and museums, and established cooperation with foreign librarians. Also, the achievements of the Bibliology Research Department of the National Library of Belarus were presented at Amsterdam's organizations.

Students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National library

On April 18, the students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National Library of Belarus as part of the environmental education and upbringing program. They got acquainted with the thematic book exhibition "Water is a wonderful gift of Nature" dedicated to World Water Day. The exposition is presented in the documents of international organizations reading room (room 207 g).
