On October 12, the library held an international scientific round table "Belarusian Translations of the Bible: Past and Present".
The event was organized within the framework of the exhibition project "Belarus and the Bible" of the National Library of Belarus, the Manuscripts Research Group (USA) and the Belarusian State University.
Problem field of the round table:
- The history of Belarusian translations of the Bible.
- Christian communities in Belarus and Belarusian translations of the Bible.
- Translations and translators.
- The current state and prospects of Belarusian translations of the Bible.
The round table was held in the format of a discussion, the experts not only exchanged their points of view, discussed issues and hotly debated, but also tried to work together to find answers to questions and solutions announced by the designated problem.
Dr. Scott Carroll, the head of the "Manuscripts Study Group" (USA), ancient manuscripts researcher, Alexander Susha, Candidate of Cultural Studies, Deputy Director for Research and Publishing National Library of Belarus, Galina Sinila, Candidate of Philological Sciences, professor, Department of History of Culture, and Associate Professor, Department of Foreign Literature at Belarusian State University, Dr. Cherota, Doctor of Philological Sciences, professor, co-author of books of the Bible translated into Belarusian, translator of many religious texts from Serbian language into Belarusian and other experts took part at the roundtable.
