In 2013–2014, the process of integration of public and school libraries located in a countryside actively developed. On June 1st, 2014, 216 incorporated libraries were registered: 40 in the Brest region, 15 in the Vitebsk region, 54 in the Gomel region, 44 in the Grodno region, 30 in the Minsk region and 33 in the Mogilev region. Within the framework of the experiment launched in 2012 under the initiative of the Ministry of Culture according to the order of the Ministerial Council of Belarus, 130 libraries have been incorporated.
At present 4 incorporated libraries have been closed: 1 in the Gomel region and 3 in the Grodno region. 1 library in the Gomel region has been reorganized into a library-club. Thus 211 integrated libraries function in Belarus today (data for June 1st, 2014).
At the session questions of integration of public and school libraries in each region were discussed and problems emerging during optimization of a library network were considered.
