A round table "Innovative Technologies for Libraries: Theory and Practice" was held in the premises of the National Library of Belarus on November 23.
The round table was held within the framework of the methodological association of librarians of the Minsk district of the Minsk region, at which a number of issues were discussed. The employees of the National Library of Belarus took active part in the event. Ms Anastasia Maslouskaja, Head of the Bibliology Research Department, spoke in detail about the current state and prospects of the development of public libraries in the republic. Ms Natalia Zamajieva, Head of the Bibliology Research Department Section, explained the legal aspects of library regulation. Mr Victar Pshybytka, Head of the Centre for Digitization and Preservation of Library Documents, touched upon the legal and technological aspects of creating an electronic library and the Virtual Reading Room information resources of the National Library of Belarus. Ms Volha Kakshynskaja, Chief Librarian, presented project innovations in the field of local history on the example of the winning libraries in the national contest "The Library is the Centre of National Culture".
The library specialists were greatly interested in the excursion to the Book Museum, during which they learned about the centuries-long traditions of the Belarusian book-printing in the context of the world history of books, got acquainted with the best examples of printing, published throughout the centuries in different parts of the world.
