On 19–21 May takes place the II Forum of Belarusian librarians “Humanitarian and educational activities of libraries in the context of human values and Belarusian State system”.
The organizers of the Forum are: the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, Belarusian Library Association, the National Library of Belarus and the Regional Executive Committee of Logoysk Town.
The Forum opens on 19 May, at 10 a.m. at the Youth’s Variety Theater (Minsk, Moskovskaya Str, 18а). Sectional sessions will be held on 20–21 May at the Rudnya Pension (Logoysk District).
The conference will gather more than 150 delegates from Belarus – leading specialists of libraries, educational institutions, representatives of legislative and executive bodies.
The planned topics of plenary and sectional sessions: the role of libraries in an innovative strategy of social development; the issues of improvement of the legislative basis and the system of state regulation; information supply of innovative state projects in the sphere of culture, science and education; interaction of libraries for creation and use of information resources; activity of libraries for implementation of the right to free access to electronic resources; scientific management and human resources for innovative development of librarianship.
Within the framework of the Forum, on 19 May at 1.30 p.m., a round table “An effectual library personnel management: organizational and managerial aspects” takes place at the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts. Representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Finances of the Republic of Belarus, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus take part in the event. The major task of the planned round table is to develop uniform solutions concerning the questions of library personnel management.
The discussions are to be ended in adoption of the Forum Resolution stating decisions on the further development of national library science.
