On February 25, 2009, at 17.00 in National Library of Belarus takes place the opening of an art exhibition “Flower Paradise III”.
For the third time, National Library of Belarus organizes the exhibition “Flower Paradise”. At the two previous exhibitions were displayed works of painting, graphic, decorative art and photography. Authors from Turkey, Armenia, Serbia, Norway, Ukraine and Russia participated in the event along with Belarusian artists. “Flower Paradise” was designed as a project-congratulation that would remind visitors of the forthcoming arrival of spring and awakening of nature. A title “Flowers as a Wonder” would be right for the project as well, because it is a sincere story about mysteries of the Beauty – its fragility and eternity, multiformity and infinity.
However, this art event has a far more profound meaning. The project presents flowers as a wonderful piece of natural universe and a part of culture. The modern human is detached from the nature and knows a little about it. A bunch of flowers, according to the last statistics, is the best present, but who knows the language of flowers? Who knows that asparagus means indifference, viol - nonchalance, and rose acacia – refinement? This present of the epoch of romanticism is nearly forgotten, and sellers of flowers (specialists) don’t offer a bunch with a “meaning”. Who remembers an old token of a daisy hidden inside a bunch that brings the good fortune? Who knows that ikebana is not only method and tradition, but, first of all, a rite which needs inner harmony and concentration.
Still life, the main subject of the project “Flower Paradise” is not a very popular genre; the modern art has other preferences. That is why “Flower Paradise» is not only a beautiful, but also very needful project which is interesting to admirers and connoisseurs of art.
Flowers bring joy, tenderness and firework of colors into our day-to-day life. Flowers, just like the art, make our life more colorful and a little bit happier.
The exhibition is open till April 16, 2009.
