The 180th anniversary of our famous poet and publicist Francišak Bahuševič is drawing near. On the occasion of this remarkable date, which will be celebrated on March 21, the National Library has prepared an electronic resource.

“Do not leave our Belarusian language, or we'll die!” These words known to every Belarusian from the preface to the first collection of poems Dudka białaruskaja (Belarusian Fife) by F. Bahuševič has served as the basis for the name of the resource. This is the most complete publication about Francišak Bahuševič collected in such a significant amount for the first time.

The resource provides something interesting and touching for everyone: here you can have a look at and leaf through the electronic pages of the poet’s first lifetime editions, see him through the eyes of artists, appreciate the perpetuation of his memory, and even read the letters and manuscripts written by Francišak Bahuševič. The resource includes copies of the poet's photographs from the funds of the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature, bringing us closer to the personality of the outstanding fellow countryman.

We believe that Belarusians should not only know and remember their heritage but also treasure and collect it. Therefore, our electronic resource will be helpful for a wide range of users. It will be of benefit for educational purposes and will appeal to teachers in schools and colleges; it will become a manual for students, and will also be relevant for researchers and scientists.
