On February 21, the National Library of Belarus holds an event Harmonious, Sonorous, Melodic Words dedicated to the International Mother Language Day.

On the International Mother Language Day celebrated around the globe for the 21st time, you will see not only traditional quotes from the classics of the Belarusian literature about the Belarusian language but also common Belarusian words that distinguish us from other nations on the outdoor electronic light board of the Library.

According to the UNESCO study, the Belarusian language is one of the most melodic languages in the world. Vyasyo~o~olka (rainbow), matu~u~ulya (mother), nathne~e~enne (inspiration)... If you don’t believe it, then we invite you to look through the pages of the most popular Belarusian pieces in the National Library.

Also, check out the external electronic light board of the Library in the morning and evening of February 21. Bright, beautiful, eye-catching videos will show the most melodic native words and quotes from the works of the Belarusian writers.

Students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National library

On April 18, the students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National Library of Belarus as part of the environmental education and upbringing program. They got acquainted with the thematic book exhibition "Water is a wonderful gift of Nature" dedicated to World Water Day. The exposition is presented in the documents of international organizations reading room (room 207 g).

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
