The excursion "Famous names of the Fatherland" is an opportunity to get acquainted with the life of famous Belarusians during a trip through the building of the National Library of Belarus.
The students from Turkmenistan from the historical faculty of the Belarusian State University took advantage of this opportunity on November 18. The students from Turkmenistan attended the tour on the eve of the birthday of the famous Belarusian poet Maxim Bogdanovich.
As part of the tour, the young people got acquainted with the architecture, decoration of the library, the system of ordering, delivering and issuing literature, found in the electronic catalogue and ordered books in Turkmen. The students were able to see a unique lifetime edition of Maxim Bogdanovich's only poetry collection "Vyanok" with a gift inscription made by the poet's hand in the Manuscripts, Rare Publications and Early Printed Books Reading Room. In addition, other rare documents from the library's collections, as well as from the collection of the famous Belarusian collector V. Likhodedov, were presented to the guests.
Part of the tour took place in the form of an interactive class, the sightseers got acquainted with the facts of the poet's biography, his books from the collections of the National Library of Belarus. At the end of the tour, the guests took a lift to the Observation Deck and admired Minsk from a bird's-eye view.
