On 20 December, an anniversary event devoted to the 90th anniversary from the publication of the first issue of the magazine Polymya was held in the gallery Labyrinth.
The event took place in the framework of the Year of Book. The magazine Polymya is the oldest literary, public and political publication of our country among which founders were well-known Belarusian writers Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas. It is the Polymya where Platon Golovach, Tishka Gartny, Kuzma Chorny, popular writers and poets of the people of Belarus Ivan Melezh, Yanka Bryl, Arkad Kuleshov, Maxim Tank, Kondrat Krapiva, Petrus Brovka, Vasily Bykov, Ivan Shamyakin, Ivan Chigrinov, Ivan Naumenko, Vladimir Korotkevich, Vyacheslav Adamczyk, Boris Sachenko published their famous works. Literary traditions established by previous generations of Belarusian masters of words continues today in the work of the authors of this prestigious magazine.
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the magazine the National Library of Belarus prepared an exhibition "Polymya – stages of creative development" which reveals ideas of the magazine from its first issue released in 1922 to the recent one.
A welcoming speech was given by First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Alexander Radkov, Deputy Information Minister of Belarus Vladimir Matusevich, director of the publishing house Zvyazda Alexandr Karlyukevich, first secretary of the Belarusian Writers’ Union Gennady Pashkov, and etc.
One of the main objectives of the magazine Polymya, founded by the Belarusian Writers’ Union is to promote on their pages the best of what shaped the modern Belarusian writers and promotes the development and spiritual power of our state, to be a conductor of the state policy by artistic expression in the field of culture focused for further spiritual development of the Belarusian nation.
