On November 24–25th, 2009, in Russian State Library (Moscow), took place the International scientific and practical seminar “Efficiency indexes of the activity of national libraries of the CIS countries”.
The event had been organized by the Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, the Library Assembly of Eurasia and Russian State Library with the support of the Intergovernmental fund for humanitarian cooperation.
Representatives of national libraries of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and other countries participated in the seminar. During the event issues of statistical account of the activity of national libraries, mechanisms of socially-state evaluation of their work were discussed; experience of approbation of the international standardized parameters of measurement of quality and efficiency of library activity was presented. At the seminar participants exchanged opinions on actual problems of the statistical account and discussed possible ways of their solving.
M.G. Aleynik, the head of the library science department of National Library of Belarus (NLB) delivered a paper “Efficiency of the activity of National Library of Belarus in modern conditions” in which she presented methods used by the NLB specialists for definition of efficiency of their activity and the system of statistics developed by National Library of Belarus. The Belarusian experience awakened a keen interest of listeners and was approved by participants of the seminar.
