On 28 August, 2013 at the National Library of Belarus the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Belarus donated books. This event was timed to the Independence Day of the Republic of Tajikistan.
12 books on the history of Tajikistan’s foreign policy in recent years were brought to the public attention.
The main piece at the exhibition was a book “Золотая сокровищница таджиков” (The golden treasure-house of the Tajik people) which was prepared by Minister for Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Hamrokhon Zarifi.
The edition is devoted to the 20th anniversary of the country’s independence. Thanks to this book a reader can know about rare museum values of arts and crafts of the Tajik people created in different periods – items of jeweller’s art and pottery, items decorated with carving, embroidery and gold embroidery, art in architecture, national costumes and head-dresses, shoes, musical instruments, and many others. Information on the Amudarya treasure (Treasure of the Oxus) is of great interest.
The book “Золотая сокровищница таджиков” represents more than 500 photos of the exhibits that are kept at museums of Tajikistan, foreign and private collections, including a family collection of Hamrokhon Zarifi.
The book was published in Tajik, Russian, Persian, Arabic, Chinese, English, French and German languages.
At the event there was an exchange of signed agreements on cooperation between the National Library of Belarus and the National Library of Tajikistan named after A. Firdausi by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Belarus Koimdodov Koimdodovich and Director of the National Library of Belarus.
