The major library of Belarus continued to host the 9th International Congress "Library as a Cultural Phenomenon," which is commemorating the 100th anniversary of the National Library of Belarus.
Participants in the breakout sessions "History of Libraries and Library Collections" and "Socio-cultural Activities: Modern Effective Practices," the seminar "Extra-Budgetary Activities in the Socio-Cultural Sphere," and the discussion platform "Electronic Information Resources: Open Dialogue of Libraries and Publishers" were from Belarus and its neighboring countries Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
Presentations were given by library employees, experts, and invited guests during which they shared their experiences, discussed completed projects, and discussed industry trends.
At the end of the Forum, the results of the International Congress were summarised by managers and reputable specialists from the world's largest libraries, archives, museums, publishing houses, leading research organisations and educational institutions, manufacturers of software, hardware, information products, and industrial equipment for libraries. As a result, a resolution was issued that documented the decisions made regarding the further development of the library industry, as well as the implementation of the goals and objectives of the state cultural policy.
Ministry of culture of the Republic of Belarus, non-profit partnership “Library assembly of Eurasia”, and the National Library of Belarus are responsible for the organizing the event.
We really admire and appreciate the International Congress' organisers and partners, SOAO "Kommunarka," ZAO "Minsk Works of Soft Drinks," and the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS member States!
