On 6 September, as part of the Day of Belarusian Written Language the Library hosted a meeting of the international round table "Consonance: literature as a mirror of the age".


The event was organized by the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus, the publishing house Zvyazda, the Belarusian Writers’ Union, the National Library of Belarus.

The round table held on the eve of the Day of Belarusian Written Language was held in the eighth time and gathered together well-known writers and scholars from different countries. The participants annually discussed the most topical issues of international cultural cooperation, problems of translation of literary heritage into other languages, issues related to modern publishing and literary periodicals.

This year, the forum was attended by speakers from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Lithuania.

A welcoming speech was made by Alexander Radkov, the First Deputy of the Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Belarus, and Liliya Ananich, the Minister of Information of the Republic of Belarus, who noted that the exchange of spiritual and moral potential strengthens the spiritual culture, spiritual morality of each countries – participants of the round table.

At the event, there was discussed the role of literature in the present stage of its development, problems and prospects of development of national literatures, issues of literary translation and cultural relationships
