On November 24, the 8th Scientific and Practical Conference "Vitebsk Region", dedicated to the Year of Historical Memory, was held in the Vitebsk Regional Library named after V. Lenin.
The Vitebsk Regional Library named after V. Lenin, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the P.M. Masherov Vitebsk State University, and the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, all are in charge of organizing the event.
The conference was attended by more than 90 historians, archaeologists, archivists, teachers, museum and library staff, local historians from Beshenkovichi, Braslav, Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Mogilev, Minsk, Miory, Orsha, Polotsk, St. Petersburg and Abakan (Russia).
On behalf of the National Library of Belarus, Andrey Baranovsky, the chief bibliographer of the Bibliography Research Department, took part in the forum as moderator of section 3 titled "Local History in the humanities". He also made a report themed the “Newspaper 'Kolkhoznaya Pravda’ (Lepel) (1930–1941): materials for the Annotated index of names”.
