On January 19, the conference on scientific and industrial cooperation in the field of social and cultural development of Belarusian society was held at the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
The conference timed to ratification of the State Program “The Culture of Belarus” for 2011–2015 gathered heads of the Humanities and Art Division of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts and the National Library of Belarus.
Chief Academic Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the conference chairman S.A. Chizhik underlined the importance of the event. His co-chairman, academician-secretary of the Humanities and Art Division of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus A.A. Kovalenya designated the major tasks of cooperation between scientific, educational and cultural institutions in the field of study and promotion of the achievements of national culture, and in the sphere of information supply of innovative development of Belarusian society.
The Humanities and Art Division of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, established in 1936 under the name of the Social Sciences Division of the BSSR Academy of Sciences, fulfills and coordinates the complex of scientific research in different fields of social sciences and humanities. The Division houses 6 state scientific institutions: the institutes of philosophy, economy, sociology, history, art criticism, ethnography and folklore, language and literature, and also Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library and the Publishing House “Belaruskaya Nauka” (“Belarusian Science”).
Director of the National Library of Belarus R.S. Motulsky, Deputy-Directors of the National Library of Belarus L.G. Kiryukhina and T.V. Kuzminich, and Academic Secretary of the National Library of Belarus A.A. Susha delivered their reports and suggested recommendations concerning cooperation for implementation of the State Program “The Culture of Belarus” for 2011–2015 and the National Program of Accelerated Development of Services in the Field of Information Technologies for 2011–2015, and particular scientific and publishing projects.
Considering the conference results, participants approved the initiative of a closer cooperation in the field of social and cultural scientific researches and projects on promotion the national book heritage and took the decision to coordinate scientific and research teamwork of scientific, educational and cultural institutions, to develop methods of joint realization of scientific projects, and to create interdepartmental scientific groups for their implementation.
Participants considered the results of the conference as extremely useful and testifying the progress of cooperation in the field of social and humanitarian research, and expressed their readiness to hold such coordinating meetings both at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and other cultural and educational institutions.
