On June 5–6, a science and practical conference "Estates of Smolensk and Belarus, their owners and inmates. Music. Architecture. Landscape art " will be held in Smolensk.
The organizers of the conference are the Regional Studies Association in Smolensk – the branch of the Union of Russian Ethnographers in Smolensk, and Smolensk Regional Universal Library named after A.T. Twardowski.
The conference will be supported by the Administration of the Smolensk Region, the Smolensk Region Department of Culture and Tourism, the Public Chamber of the Smolensk Region, the Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation in Smolensk.
On the agenda of the conference are consideration of the history of the estate culture of Smolensk and Belarus, the manor heritage in archives, libraries, museums and private collections, the features of garden art and music in the estates, discussions on historical and architectural problems of the preservation of Russian and Belarusian manor heritage, as well as some other thematic issues.
On June 5, a meeting will be held at the Regional Universal Library named after A.T. Twardowski in Smolensk; on June 6 attendants of the conference will visit the Museum-Estate of M.I. Glinka in Novospasskoye, the museum Teremok, the Counts Tenishevs’ estate in Flyonov, and the estate of V.N. Dobrovolsky in Dankov.
