On March 12, the World Wide Web, commonly known as Web, turns 30! In 1989, English software engineer Sir Timothy Berners-Lee invented the Internet.
Today the Web is millions of servers and billions of sites, built on hypertext technology. The project, initially focused on scientists to share information amongst multiple computers, has become truly global and accessible to billions of users. Moreover, the number of Internet resources and sites on the World Wide Web is growing rapidly every day.
We hope that the new project of the National Library of Belarus, the thematic site Belarus in the Information Space, will take a rightful place on the global Web. The resource will allow numerous users to learn more the Republic of Belarus, its history, government and legislation, the development of the economy and science, the country's investment potential, achievements of culture and art, and to choose sports and tourist facilities, music, theater and cinema events, libraries and museums to visit.
