A cultural and patriotic event "Belarus, a Country of Unity" took place at the National Library on 17 September.
New holiday – national unity – emphasizes the succession of generations, stability and self-sufficiency of the Belarusian government.
The event was attended by Ms Aksana Knizhnikava, Director General of the National Library of Belarus, Mr Aliaksandr Rumak, Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs, Mr Dzmitry Shashok, Head of the Administration of the Piershamajski District of the city of Minsk Mr Viachaslau Kuzniatsou, Deputy of the Minsk City Council of Deputies, Mr Vadzim Lakiza, Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, representatives of the youth of the district.
A celebratory gift was the performance of the brass band of the 56th separate communications regiment, the exemplary choreographic ensemble "Suzorjie" with the choreographic composition "My Belarus", the Armenian dance ensemble "Erebuni" of the PA "Minsk city Armenian cultural and educational society "Hayastan", Volha Zahadzkaja from the PA "Union of Poles in Belarus", Ms Jeseniya Mikulich, chairperson of the Ukrainian cultural and educational society "Krajany" (Maladziechna) from the public association "Vatra", group "Pravakatsyja".
Library staff took guests on a tour of the exhibition project dedicated to the year of national unity "Symbols of Life". Visitors could also see a thematic exhibition "In a Unified Family", which presented about 50 documents from the collection of the National Library of Belarus: scientific and popular science publications, encyclopaedias on the history of Belarus, articles in periodicals. The exhibition also features books dedicated to the anniversaries of the reunification of Western Belarus with the BSSR in 1939.
The organizers of the event are the National Library of Belarus and the Administration of the Piershamajski District of the city of Minsk.
