On May 26–27, 2009, at the National Library of Belarus was held an annual conference of bank supervisors from Central and Eastern Europe.
The following issues were discussed at the conference: activities of bank supervision bodies under conditions of the world financial crisis; implementation of capital agreement Basel II and its further improvement.
P.V. Kallaur, deputy president of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus delivered the opening address.
Considering the complex situation in the world financial markets the National Bank, being at the head of the group, bears a particular responsibility. The world globalization intensification and increasing dependence of national financial institutions on international financial markets determine the crucial role of oversight bodies and strict control over financial intermediaries.
