On September 22, 2009, the opening of the international exhibition “Azerbaijan, Belarus and world classics in a miniature book“ took place in the Museum of a Book in National Library of Belarus.
The exhibition had been arranged by the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus to Azerbaijan and National Library of Belarus. Rarities from the private Museum of a Miniature Book (Baku, Azerbaijan) created by Zarifa Salakhova and collection of miniature books from the stock of National Library of Belarus were displayed at the exhibition.
Acting director of National Library of Belarus Tatiana Kuzminich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Belarus Ali Tejmur Ogly Nagiev, and second secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus to Azerbaijan Svetlana Karpushina participated in the event.
The exhibition had become a significant event in the cultural life of Belarus and aroused a keen interest of museum workers and publishers. In particular, representative of the publishing department of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus Elena Pavlova and director of National Museum of Art of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Prokoptsov delivered speeches at the opening of the exhibition.
Zarifa Salakhova, the creator of the Museum of a Miniature Book presented the Museum collection. Within the framework of the presentation Mrs. Salakhova handed to National Library of Belarus several publications dedicated to the history and culture of Azerbaijan including miniature books and CDs.
Talented Azerbaijan artists acquainted visitors with the musical culture of the country. Singer Shamil Mamedov performed a vocal composition, and musician Rashid Amiroslanov played saz, the national musical instrument of Azerbaijan.
