The results of the VI International contest “Art of a Book” of the CIS member states (June 4-5, 2009, Moscow) have been summed up.




Belarusian publishers presented at the contest 8 books in 8 nominations: “Grand Prix”, “Our contemporary”, “Art-book”, “My land”, “Book for children and youth”, “Printed in the Commonwealth”, “Commonwealth” and “Victory”.

The Republic of Belarus presented at the contest 32 books 19 of which were published by national publishing houses “Belarus”, “P. Brouka Belarusian Encyclopedia”, “Mastatskaya Litaratura”, “Belarusian Science Publishing House”, “Minsk Color Print Factory”, “Literature and Art”, and “Culture and Art”. Besides that, there were 13 books by Belarusian private publishing house “Harvest”, “Artia-group”, “Belkartografia”, “Belarusian Orthodox Church”, “BelTA”, “Polyprint”, “Kavaler”, and “Belfaxizdatgrupp”.

Fourteen jury members from nine countries elected winners that passed on secret vote (one country-one vote).

Books by Belarusian publishing houses won diplomas in the following nominations:

“Victory”

Diploma of the II degree – Y. Fomin “The Person from the Legend” (“P. Brouka Belarusian Encyclopedia” publishing house, design by Sergey Sarkisov).

Commonwealth”

Diploma of the I degree – “Orthodox Icon in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus” (“Belarusian Orthodox Church” publishing house, design by Igor Rezko).

My land”

Diploma of the I degree – “Voices of Vanished Villages” (“Belarusian Science Publishing House”, design by Alexander Kaulazhenko).

“Book for children and youth”

Diploma of the I degree – “Magical World. Belarusian mythos, legends and fairytales”. ((“P. Brouka Belarusian Encyclopedia” publishing house, artist Valery Slauk).

“Printed in the Commonwealth”

Diploma of the II degree – G. Kartsov “Byelovyezhsky Forest” (“Mastatskaya Litaratura” publishing house, printed by “Y. Kolas Printing House).
Diploma of the III degree– “Our Father. Lord’s Prayer” (“Belarusian Orthodox Church” publishing house, printed by “Minsk Color Print Factory”).

“Grand Prix”

“Napoleon Orda. The Way to the Fatherland” (“Mastatskaya Litaratura” publishing house, design by Vyacheslav Pavlovets).

Thus Belarusian publishers received 7 diplomas including 3 diplomas of the I degree, 2 diplomas of the II degree, 1 diploma of the III degree, and one Grand Prix.

Summed up results of the contest: Moldova – 1 diploma, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Estonia – 2 diplomas, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan – 3 diplomas, Ukraine – 5 diplomas, the Russian Federation – 6 diplomas (including one Grand Prix), Belarus – 7 diplomas (including one Grand Prix).

On June 25, 2009, in the framework of the documentary-artistic program “Unsubdued Belarus” which will be held in National library of Belarus the book by Y. Fomin “The Person from the Legend” will be presented.

On September 4, 2009, at the XXII Moscow international book fair laureates of the contest “Art of a Book” of the CIS member states“will receive their prizes.

Students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National library

On April 18, the students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National Library of Belarus as part of the environmental education and upbringing program. They got acquainted with the thematic book exhibition "Water is a wonderful gift of Nature" dedicated to World Water Day. The exposition is presented in the documents of international organizations reading room (room 207 g).

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
