Access to Oxford University Press databases

Since September 15, 2009, in National Library of Belarus has been opened the access to electronic databases of one of the biggest world publishing houses Oxford University Press.


The following databases are accessible:

  • Oxford Biblical Studies Online – electronic versions of six Oxford issues of the Bible (The Oxford Study Bible, New Oxford Annotated Bible (the 3rd edition), Jewish Study Bible, Catholic Study Bible (the 2nd edition), Access Study Bible with Apocrypha, The Authorized King James Bible with Apocrypha). The database includes commentaries and annotations, reference sources and interactive historical chronicles.
  • Oxford Islamic Studies Online – the best scientific materials on Islam. The database which contains more than 5 000 documents including 3 000 scientific articles, 1 000 biographies, geographic maps, illustrations, demographic schemes, and links to Internet-resources, contributes to more correct understanding of the Islamic world.
  • Oxford Language Dictionaries Online – electronic versions of dictionaries in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Chinese languages. The database contains information on the meaning, articulation and origins of more than 600 000 words.
  • Oxford Scholarship Online – the access to full text books of Oxford University Press publishing house on mathematics, physics, biology, neurology, economy and finances, business and management, jurisprudence and policy, history, philosophy, psychology, sociology, religion, philology, literature and music.

The test access is opened till October 13, 2009.

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.

On April 8-12 the VII International Scientific and Practical Seminar "Document Restoration: Conservatism and Innovation - 2024" was held at the Russian State Library. This is the largest professional forum, the main task of which is to exchange experience and improve the skills of restorers and curators of museum, library and archival collections from different countries.
