The Virtual Reading Room continues a series of news on lore electronic resources in the Year of Nativ Land and on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The full-text corporate database “Living Memory of Generations” is a kind of informational memorial to those who earned the Great Victory. The resource was created by the librarians of the Mogilev region on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus and the Mogilev region from Nazi invaders.
The database includes collected memories and other documentary sources about the Great Patriotic War. All the sources belonged to the residents of the Mogilev region - participants and witnesses of the warfare.
Five chapters are like five foreshortening themes. The first one called “I Remember”. The war appears in the chapter through memories, as well as biographies, photographs, copies of documents, articles from collections and periodicals. The "Voices of War", "Faces of Victory", and "Field Mail" chapters contain audio recordings, video clips, and a unique collection of frontline letters. The chapters provide an opportunity to experience the events of the war years through the fate of an individual like a front-line soldier, a partisan, a prisoner, an underground worker, a home front worker, an eyewitness to the war, including a child. The “Descendants of War” chapter contains children's poems, stories, drawings and essays that testify to the attitude of the modern younger generation towards war.
Information is presented in Belarusian and Russian.
You can access the database at the Virtual Reading Room and through the "Library Resources" section of the Belarus in the Information Space web-site.
