A workshop for heads of regional public libraries’ acquisition departments was held in Vitebsk Regional Library, from 5 to 6 March. The event featured a round table on Regional consolidated catalogs for corporate interaction.
The event was attended by over 45 representatives of libraries of Vitebsk Region.
Elena Ishutina, head of the corporate cataloging sector, spoke on the technology of creation and maintenance of the consolidated e-Catalog of libraries in Belarus. Issues and prospects of the AlisWeb automated library information system were covered.
Natalya Shamko, chief librarian of the BELMARC format development sector, reported on typical errors revealed in the local e-Catalog of Vitebsk Regional Library, in accordance with the BELMARC format. Special attention was paid to bibliographic description of various types of documents, in particular electronic resources and audiovisual materials.
