On October 30, Mr. Arthur Gumenyuk, the Secretary of the Supreme Security Council of Moldova, visited the National Library of Belarus as part of a working visit to Belarus.
During a tour to the National Library the guest of honor got acquainted with its history and appreciated the architectural features and potential of the country’s largest information and socio-cultural center.
The tour route also included a visit to the international exhibition "Francysk Skaryna and his epoch", dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book-printing. For the first time in Belarus, the most valuable monuments of book culture from seven countries of the world have been gathered on a single exhibition venue.
Mr. Arthur Gumenyuk was especially interested in the unique original editions of the Belarusian printing pioneer, Francysk Skaryna, published in Prague and Vilna in 1517–1525, as well as printing equipment of five centuries, from the era of Francysk Skaryna to the present day.
