A regional seminar for directors of public libraries was held in Gomel Regional Public Library, on 5 March.

The event summed the year 2018, discussed the pressing problems facing libraries, and suggested promising areas for further development. Head of the Bibliology Research Department, Marina Pshibytko, presented a report on the Activity of public libraries of Belarus in 2018.

Director of the National Library of Belarus, Roman Motulsky , held a public lecture on the Trends and features of the development of the book culture of Belarus in the 11th – 20th centuries, in the context of European and national history. The event, attended by representatives of culture and education of Gomel Region, was part of the Year of Native Land in Belarus.

As part of the National Library’s charity campaign Reading Is the Field of Information and Knowledge, about 900 publications were donated to libraries of the Gomel Region. Gomel Regional Library named after Lenin, the Centralized Library Network of Gomel Region, Public Library Network of the City of Gomel and Petrikov District Centralized Library System received fiction, historical, educational and methodical literature, books on culture and art.

About 600 publications were donated to a village library in Klimovka, Gomel Region, which was damaged by fire last year.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
